Kate Thornton

Kate Thornton is an experienced meteorologist currently serving as the Morning and Noon Meteorologist at NewsChannel 9 WSYR since January 2014, where responsibilities include forecasting weather for Central New York. Prior to this role, Kate was the Weekend Meteorologist at NewsChannel 9 WSYR-TV, delivering weekend forecasts for various newscasts. Earlier experience includes a position as Weekend Meteorologist/MMJ at WICZ Fox 40 from July 2010 to January 2014, as well as a Customer Service Associate at Price Chopper Supermarkets from June 2005 to October 2010. Kate earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Broadcast Meteorology from the University at Albany and a Certificate in Broadcast Journalism from the New School of Radio and Television.
