Lisa Hurwitz

Lisa Hurwitz is an accomplished researcher with extensive experience in education and media studies. Currently serving as the Director of Research at Newsela, Lisa oversees a diverse portfolio of mixed-methods research initiatives. Previous roles include Manager of Impact & Efficacy Research at Lexia Learning, where comprehensive studies aligned with ESSA criteria were managed. Lisa's research expertise is further demonstrated through positions at Harvard Medical School and Northwestern University, where significant contributions to understanding children's media consumption and educational outcomes were made. An academic with a PhD in Media, Technology, and Society from Northwestern University, Lisa has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and held teaching roles at both Northwestern and NYU.
