Kevin Twomey is the SVP of Marketing at NewsWhip. Before that, they were the Senior Director of Marketing at MaRS Discovery District from August 2017 to May 2021. In that role, they were responsible for growing the MaRS brand across Canada and America, commercial partnerships, and marketing consultant for high growth start-ups.
Kevin relaunched the MaRS brand, focussing on segmentation, positioning and targeting, culminating in an integrated go to market campaign. Kevin also led the redevelopment of the MaRS corporate website (MaRSDD.com) and oversaw the strategy for all support digital channels including paid media.
Kevin secured content partnerships with national publications as part of the MaRS content strategy. Kevin also worked with internal business units to develop partner products and marketing support. Kevin convened national partners to promote Canada’s tech reputation, working with partners such as The City of Toronto, Invest Ottawa, Communitech of Waterloo, Government of Calgary, BDC and EDC.
Kevin led a multidisciplinary team of 10 and achieved a team engagement score of 85%. Kevin was also a marketing advisor to start-ups, helping them with business and brand growth. Kevin was a member of the senior leadership team, contributing to the long-term strategy and vision, including the national expansion of MaRS. Kevin was also responsible for the Marcom budget.
Kevin Twomey's educational career includes a Marketing Week Mini MBA with Mark Ritson from the field of marketing and DIT Aungier Street from the school of marketing. Kevin also has a certification from Google Digital Garage in Fundamentals of Digital Marketing.
