José Mercado

Jose Mercado has a strong background in quality assurance spanning over 17 years. Jose currently holds the position of VP of Business Assurance at Newtech, S.R.L. since December 2020. Prior to this role, they served as the Director of Software Development from January 2015 to December 2020, where they successfully managed a team of 70+ QA engineers. From January 2011 to January 2015, they worked as a QA Manager, overseeing day-to-day activities of onshore/offshore Global QA teams and implementing Dev-Ops from a QA standpoint. Before that, from March 2008 to September 2010, they were a QA Lead responsible for establishing and evolving formal QA processes and managing a team of 20 resources. Jose has also worked as a QA Module Lead at Newtech, S.R.L., QA Analyst at América Móvil, and QA Analyst at Verizon. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in creating test strategies, executing test plans, automating testing processes, and ensuring the quality of applications and products. Jose has a strong focus on collaboration, coaching, and mentoring, as well as a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Jose Mercado attended the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, where they studied Computer Engineering. Jose also attended the Universidad de la Tercera Edad, where they studied Business Administration and Management, General. In addition to their educational background, Jose obtained certifications such as the Scrum Foundation Professional Certificate from CertiProf in 2019 and the Scrum Master certification from Scrum Alliance in 2015.
