John Alexiou

John Alexiou is an experienced fire service professional currently serving as Fire Captain for the City of Monterey since January 2007, where responsibilities include supervising personnel and performing fire suppression and rescue operations. In addition to this role, John has held consulting positions with NewtonX, GLG, and Expert Institute since 2021, offering subject matter expertise in emergency services. Previously, John managed the Marine Safety Division for the City of Santa Cruz from 2000 to 2007 and served as Lead Instructor and Consultant for California State Parks in rescue watercraft training. Other relevant positions include Deputy Harbormaster for San Mateo County Harbor District and Public Safety Dispatcher for the California Highway Patrol. John holds a Master's Degree in Emergency Services Administration from California State University, Long Beach and two Bachelor's Degrees from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, one in Management & Supervisory Development and another in Journalism/Public Relations.
