Gene Arkenberg has a strong background in fuel cell technology and engineering. Gene started their career as a Process Engineer at International Paper in 2003, focusing on process improvement and operator training. In 2004, they moved to Nexceris, LLC, where they held various positions, including Research Engineer and Group Leader for SOFC technology. Gene progressed to become the Director of the Fuel Cell Business Unit and later the Director of Stack and System Technology within the Fuel Cell and Electrolyzer Business Unit. Their responsibilities included project management, team leadership, technical report writing, and system design.

Gene Arkenberg completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2002. In 2018, they obtained a certification in Management Essentials for Developing Leaders from Darden Executive Education, followed by an Innovation Engineering Blue Belt certification from the Innovation Engineering Institute in 2019.
