Heiko van der Linden has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Heiko started their career in 1999 as a Ph.D student at the University of Twente, where they focused on developing a peristaltic micropump. Heiko gained skills in microfabrication and obtained a patent during their four-year tenure.
Heiko then worked at the University of Groningen as a postdoc and helped set up a microfluidics group. Heiko also worked on projects related to antigen-sensitive hydrogel biosensors and two-phase liquid phase stabilization. Heiko gained knowledge in UV/LIGA, electroplating, and hot embossing during their time there.
In 2007, Heiko joined Delft University of Technology as a postdoc and contributed to the design and realization of a lab-on-a-chip device. However, after a year, they became a tenure-track assistant professor at Leiden University, where they supervised micro/nanofabrication labs and a cleanroom. Heiko also supervised Ph.D. students and led a cleanroom technician and chemical analyst team.
In 2011, Heiko briefly worked at Talpa Media as a scientist before joining VUmc as a senior project leader in electrical engineering. At VUmc, they held the position for four years and then moved to RR Mechatronics B.V. as a senior electrical engineer. Heiko stayed there until 2020.
From 2020 to 2022, Heiko worked at Nexperia as a senior principal engineer before joining DYKA Nederland in 2022 as a business development manager.
Heiko van der Linden earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Microfluidics from the University of Twente, where they studied from 1999 to 2003. Prior to that, they completed their M.SC. degree in Pharmacy/Organic Chemistry at Leiden University, from 1993 to 1999.
