Christian Westerlund

Christian Westerlund has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and related roles. Christian started their career at Ammattiliitto Pro - Trade Union Pro as a Research Assistant, where they focused on database design, data processing, and automation using Python, C++, and Microsoft SQL server. Christian also built interactive web graphics using JavaScript and HighCharts. Christian then worked as a Service Engineer Intern at Microsoft for a short period.

Later, they joined Taxi Stefan Westerlund as a Taxi Driver, where they drove taxis in the Espoo region and occasionally worked for other taxi companies. Christian also worked as a Photographer at Presentor Oy for a year.

In 2016, Christian embarked on their journey as a Data Engineer at Tekniikan akateemiset TEK. Christian was responsible for building data infrastructure for research, analytics, and reporting purposes. Christian integrated data from various sources, designed and implemented databases, and developed automation processes using tools like Python, C++, and PostgreSQL.

During this time, Christian also worked as a Project Worker at Tekniikan akateemiset TEK, where they designed and implemented databases for research purposes and developed automation processes to analyze large datasets.

In 2017, they collaborated with Aalto University as a Thesis Worker, where they wrote a master's thesis on the topic of "Efficient parallel implementation of a transient heat transfer model" using FDM.

Currently, Christian is employed at Next Games as a Senior Data Engineer. Christian'srole involves maintaining and developing data infrastructure using technologies from both Google Cloud and Azure. Christian ensures reliable data delivery from various internal and external sources, both streaming and batch. Christian also provides technical support to the analytics team for any data platform-related issues.

Christian Westerlund completed a Bachelor of Science (Technology) in Materials Science from Aalto University between 2011 and 2016. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (Technology) in the same field from Aalto University from 2016 to 2018. Prior to their university education, Christian attended Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Visual Arts from 2008 to 2011, but no specific degree or field of study was mentioned.
