Reko Ukko has extensive experience in the gaming industry, starting in 2004 as a Game Designer at Bugbear Entertainment Oy. Reko then worked as a Graphician in the Demoscene from 2000 to 2010. In 2007, they joined Digital Chocolate, where they served as a Lead Game Designer and later as a Design Manager. During their time there, they contributed to the creation of games such as Island God and California Gold Rush. From 2011 to 2012, Reko worked as a Game Designer at Remedy Entertainment, where they played a role in the development of games like Alan Wake: American Nightmare and Quantum Break. Reko then joined NaturalMotion as a Design Manager, leading the game design for Clumsy Ninja. Reko co-founded Seriously Digital Entertainment in 2013, where they first served as VP of Game Design and later as SVP and Co-founder. After successfully building the company's culture and selling the business, they moved on to become a Chief Creative Officer at Next Games, A Netflix Game Studio in 2022. Throughout their career, Reko has also engaged in speaking engagements, delivering workshops and lectures on game design and the creative aspects of the industry. Additionally, they participated in a charity climb as a Charity Climber for Kapua 2016. Reko also served as a Board Member for HUS Helsingin yliopistollinen sairaala from 2020 to 2022.
Reko Ukko completed their education at the Evtek Institute of Art & Design from 2001 to 2005, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 3D Visualization. Prior to that, they attended Heinola Business College from 1994 to 1997, although the specific degree and field of study are not mentioned. In terms of certifications, Reko obtained the Certified Scrum Product Owner certification from Scrum Alliance / Evolve Beyond in June 2012, and also obtained the Certified Scrum Master certification from Scrum Alliance / Radtac in May 2012.
