James Corkrey

James Corkrey has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. James recently joined Next Rev Technologies as a Senior System Engineer in 2021. There, they played a key role in launching a major project and is involved in upcoming big projects.

Prior to this, James worked at ManTech International Corporation from 2016 to 2020 in various roles such as Platform Architect, Chief Engineer, and Senior IT Scientist & AWS Architect. In these positions, they designed cloud-based architecture solutions, advocated for the adoption of cloud platforms and services, and provided guidance to domain architects. James led implementations of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and DataLake projects.

From 2015 to 2016, James worked at Ace Info Solutions, Inc. as an AWS/Cloud Implementation Lead. James collaborated with senior DHS architects and supported the expansion of Provisioned Services in the context of Cloud Computing solutions. James was also responsible for maintaining a 24x7 mission-critical DHS production environment.

Before that, from 2011 to 2015, James worked at Red Rock Business Advisors as an AWS IT Project Manager and Senior Systems Analyst. James led the prototyping effort for identity and access management solutions in the AWS infrastructure and supported customization of IC financial applications.

From 2009 to 2011, James was a Systems Architect at Sotera Defense Solutions, where they improved customer satisfaction with a watchlisting application, managed requirements, and led documentation efforts. James also contributed to CMMI Level 3 certification.

In 2008, James briefly served as the OCIO Communications Lead at SAIC, US Dept. of Health & Human Services.

From 2006 to 2008, James worked at Accel Corporation, Fannie Mae as a Senior Business Analyst. James played a crucial role in analyzing and documenting enterprise-wide systems and implemented process improvements.

In 2005, James briefly worked as a Proposal Manager at Technology Advancement Group.

From 2003 to 2005, James was a Program Analyst at Dynanet Corp, DOI & National Business Center.

From 2000 to 2003, James was an Applications Analyst at Northrop Grumman IT, Government Solutions. Here, they managed and developed business-critical applications for the Bureau of Land Management at the Department of the Interior.

James Corkrey obtained their Advanced Diploma in English Language and Literature/Letters from Loudoun County High School in the years 1984 to 1987. From 1987 to 1991, they attended Marietta College and earned their BA in English, Journalism, and Leadership. During the same period, they also pursued a Leadership & Business program at McDonough Leadership & Business, where they became a McDonough Senior Fellow in Leadership and Business.

Later, from 2008 to 2011, James attended Capella University where they earned their M.S in Information Technology with a focus on Information Assurance & Security. In addition to their formal education, they obtained various certifications, including AWS Total Cost of Ownership and Cloud Economics from Amazon in December 2015, AWS Technical Professional Oracle Enterprise Application in November 2015, Amazon Accredited AWS Technical Professional in November 2015, Amazon Accredited AWS Business Professional in October 2015, Certified ScrumMaster from the Scrum Alliance in August 2015, and CompTIA Security+ ce from CompTIA in July 2016.
