James Alexander

Finance Director at Nextgenaccess (NGA)

James is a chartered accountant having trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers in their corporate tax practice 1997-2000. He joined National Grid Group Corporate finance working on a variety of mergers and acquisitions.

In 2004 National Grid bought Crown Castle’s UK masts business for £1.1bn. The business was renamed National Grid Wireless and James was part of the team renegotiating the analogue tv and radio contracts with the BBC prior to digital switchover. National Grid sold NGW for £2.5bn in April 2007.

James joined American Tower in 2008 and was instrumental in building their EMEA business from scratch to over 7,000 towers throughout Europe and Africa. This involved the acquisition of Cell C’s tower portfolio in South Africa, MTN’s tower portfolios in Uganda and Ghana, E-Plus+ portfolio in Germany and Airtel’s tower portfolio in Nigeria.
