Juan Cubillos-Ruiz

Scientific Advisor at NextRNA Therapeutics

Juan R. Cubillos-Ruiz, PhD is an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Cubillos-Ruiz obtained his BS in Microbiology at Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia) and completed his PhD in Immunology at Dartmouth Medical School. His PhD research focused on understanding and targeting the immune microenvironment of ovarian cancer. He pioneered the use of RNAi-loaded nanoparticles to re-program dendritic cell function in the tumor microenvironment and received the “John H. Copenhaver, Jr. and William H. Thomas, MD 1952” Predoctoral Fellowship Award for his basic and translational discoveries. Dr. Cubrllos-Ruiz’s current research aims at understanding how the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) Stress Response sculpts immune cell function in health and disease. The Cubillos-Ruiz lab focuses on uncovering and characterizing the immunometabolic and epigentic programs controlled by ER stress in cancer, pain and infectious diseases.
