John Hixson

John Hixson is currently serving as Vice President of Clinical Development at Neurona Therapeutics since June 2023 and is a Clinical Advisor at NextSense, Inc. since November 2020. Hixson has a longstanding academic role as Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco since June 2006. Previously, Hixson held positions including Chief Medical Officer at Nile until May 2023, Co-Editor in Chief at SAGE Publishing from June 2016 to June 2022, and Deputy Chief Information Officer at the San Francisco VA Medical Center until June 2022. Additionally, Hixson was a Clinical Advisor for Google Health from June 2018 to June 2020 and served as Clinical Lead for Patient-Facing Technologies at the Department of Veterans Affairs' Health Informatics Initiative from January 2013 to May 2020. Hixson completed medical training as a Neurology Resident at the University of Pennsylvania Health System from 2001 to 2005 and earned a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2001, following a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Genetics from Texas A&M University in 1997.
