Mark Jessop has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Mark has served as a Councillor at Huon Valley Council since 2022, representing the local community. Prior to that, Mark was the Chief Executive Officer of Nexus Inc, a community-based organization providing support to individuals with various needs. Mark played a significant role in expanding Nexus's services during their tenure.
Before joining Nexus, Mark was a partner at Mossvale Alpacas. Mark also had a long career in the Australian Army as a Psychologist, fulfilling roles in selection, performance enhancement, and training. Mark served in various leadership positions and provided specialist consulting for extreme conditions.
In the government sector, Mark worked as a Manager in Youth Justice & Child Protection for the Tasmanian Government from 2007 to 2013 and as a Director of Policy, Manager of Strategy, and Manager of Young Offender Programs for the Western Australian Government from 2003 to 2007.
Mark also has experience in market and social research, having worked as the State Manager of Western Australia at Colmar Brunton, where they conducted studies of national significance. Mark was also the Western Australian Licensee at DBM - Career Management, providing executive outplacement and organizational change advice.
Additionally, Mark worked as a Director at The Boshe Group, a management consulting firm specializing in research-based solutions. Mark contributed to market research, policy and program evaluation, and marketing strategy. Mark's early career involved teaching as a Lecturer and Course Controller at Edith Cowan University.
Mark Jessop completed a Certificate IV in Project Management Practice (BSB41515) from the Institute of Project Management in 2021-2022. Mark also attended the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2016 for the Company Directors Course. In 1991-1992, Mark pursued a Masters of Business degree with a focus on Marketing at Curtin University, although they did not complete the program. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours First Class in Psychology from the University of Tasmania during the period of 1981-1986.
