CTO and Co-founder at Nfinite Nanotech

Jhi Yong L. has a diverse range of work experience, starting with their current role as CTO and Co-founder at Nfinite Nanotech, where they are focused on driving the development and commercialization of cleantech solutions. Previously, they worked as a researcher at the Functional Nanomaterials Group at the University of Waterloo. They also gained experience as a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern at Tesla, optimizing and testing components on Model 3 and Y vehicle controllers. Prior to that, Jhi Yong L. worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Magnum Essence Sdn. Bhd., and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Dr. Rui Ni's Fluid Transport Lab, where they conducted experimental research and designed and 3D printed components for simulating clogging effects in oil and gas extraction. They also worked as a Wind Turbine Designer at Winergize, winning first place in the US Dept. of Energy's Collegiate Wind Turbine Competition in 2016. Additionally, Jhi Yong L. gained experience as a Project Manager and Vibrational Analysis Engineer at Penn State Capstone, managing project timelines and conducting condition-based maintenance analysis. Lastly, they worked as an Exhaust Manifold Designer at Penn State FSAE, where they designed and fabricated exhaust manifolds for a Formula-style race car.

Jhi Yong L. completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University from 2013 to 2016. In 2015, Jhi Yong L. also participated in a 5-month study abroad program at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Mechanical Engineering. Jhi Yong L. obtained a Certified SolidWorks Associate certification from the SolidWorks Authorized Training Centre in December 2015. Additionally, Jhi Yong L. obtained a Level 2 certification in Book-keeping from LCCI International Qualifications in December 2010.

Jhi Yong L. is currently pursuing a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo, which began in 2019 and is expected to be completed by 2021. In 2020 to 2021, Jhi Yong L. also participated in the Matter stream program at the Creative Destruction Lab.
