Daryl Byrne

Daryl Byrne is an experienced professional with a diverse background in the equine and sporting industries. Currently serving as a Claims Handler at NFU Mutual since June 2022, Daryl also fulfills the role of Secretary for York Éireannach GAA. Prior experiences include working as an Attendant at The Stone Trough Inn and a Maintenance Specialist at Shamrock Gardens Malton, both from May 2022 to May 2023. Daryl previously held leadership positions at the National Association of Racing Staff, serving as Vice President and Racecourse Inspector from September 2019 to June 2022. Prior to this, Daryl worked as a Work Rider for R F Racing Ltd., focusing on the exercise and education of elite thoroughbreds from January 2016 to December 2021. Daryl also coordinated the Regional Staff Development Programme at the National Horseracing College, aiming to provide industry-wide training from June 2019 to June 2020. Daryl's early career included a role as a Jockey at MARK JOHNSTON RACING LIMITED. Daryl holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Psychology from Leeds Trinity University and has pursued studies in Social Sciences at York College.
