Joachim's involvement with the XMPP Standards Foundation started in 2012, where they joined as a member. Joachim aimed to create "Chatty Things" by utilizing instant messaging as a tool to open up closed systems and introduce exciting new services.

Joachim also has a background as the Owner and Founder of Lindborg Systems AB since 1991. Additionally, they served as a Systems Architect and CTO at Sustainable Innovation AB from 2008 until August 2022. Joachim worked on projects related to energy and power efficiency, distributed energy, smart home, and smart grid systems. Furthermore, they were a System Architect, developer, and salesperson at Homesolutions from 2001 to 2008. Joachim played a crucial role in creating an advanced distributed Linux-based energy efficiency platform for condominium apartment buildings.
