James M. Strout has extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, currently serving as a Technical Expert and holding multiple directorate roles at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute since June 1998, where responsibilities include strategy, research and development, and resource management. Previously, James held roles such as Division Deputy Director and Senior Project Manager, focusing on project management and strategic processes. Academic credentials include a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, alongside a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington. James began research work as a Guest Researcher at the University of Washington, supported by the Valle Scholarship and Scandinavian Exchange Program.
