Caroline Bates is a seasoned medical professional with extensive experience in acute medicine and gastroenterology. Currently serving as Clinical Director of Acute Services Medical Directorate and Consultant Gastroenterologist at NHS Fife since October 2021, Caroline previously held the position of Consultant Physician at NHS Lothian from August 2004 to October 2021. Caroline's early career includes roles as a Specialty Trainee in gastroenterology and general medicine, as well as a Clinical Fellow and Senior House Officer in transplant units. Between December 2010 and April 2020, Caroline contributed to the Glencorse Association's Board of Directors, successfully securing a significant grant. Caroline's educational background includes a BMSc in Forensic Medicine and an MBChB in Medicine from the University of Dundee, alongside a Master's in Public Health Research from The University of Edinburgh. Caroline is actively pursuing fellowships at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Royal Society of Public Health.
