Laura Jess has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Laura started their career as a Pharmaceutical Sciences - Dispensary Technician at Inveresk Research in 2003. In 2006, they transitioned to a Marketing and Events Manager position at MackayHannah Ltd, where they worked until 2008. In the same year, Laura joined NHS Lothian as a Clinical Respiratory Physiologist and subsequently held the positions of Specialist Clinical Respiratory Physiologist - Team Lead and Lead for Sleep Medicine. Laura is currently working as the Head of Paediatric Cardiac Respiratory and Sleep Physiology at NHS Lothian. Alongside their healthcare roles, Laura also serves as a Clinical Physiology Course Lecturer and Examiner at Glasgow Caledonian University since 2019.

Laura Jess has a diverse education history spanning different fields of study. In 2003-2005, they attended Telford College and obtained an NC degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Subsequently, from 2005-2006, they pursued a SVQ at Jewel and Esk Valley College, focusing on Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Massage Therapy.

In 2008-2012, Laura attended the University of Sunderland and earned a BSc (Hons) degree in Clinical Physiology, specializing in Respiratory and Sleep. Moreover, during this period, they achieved a Part 1 Professional Qualification in Respiratory Physiology from the Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology.

Continuing their education, Laura obtained a Part 2 Professional Qualification in Respiratory Physiology from the Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology between 2010 and 2012. This qualification further enhanced their expertise in the field.

To expand their knowledge and skills, Laura pursued additional certifications. In 2022, they acquired a Certificate in ECG Interpretation from The Society for Cardiological Science and Technology. This certificate demonstrates their proficiency in interpreting ECGs, specifically in the field of Cardiology.

Laura's interest in business and management led their to pursue two consecutive degrees in Business Administration. In 2020-2021, they attended the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School and obtained an MBA credential with a focus on Change Management. Following this, in 2021-2022, Laura enrolled in the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University to pursue an MBA at the executive level, concentrating on Developing and Executing Strategy.
