Steve Woodford

Steve joined the Board of NHS Digital, which transitioned to NHS England as part of the merger in 2023, as a Non-Executive Director on 1 April 2021. Steve serves on the Cyber Security and Risk Committee and the Data, Digital and Technology Committee.

Pursuing his childhood passion for technology Steve developed deep technical skills at Oxford University and subsequently built a strong track record of achieving substantial strategic advantage through successfully leading bold technology programmes for global organisations in fast-moving, highly regulated sectors.

Steve’s passion for technology has never wavered over his 30+ years in the industry including directorship/C-suite positions with PwC, BGL Group and a number of successful start-ups. He has led tech transformations with organisations as varied as Pfizer, Nestle, GlaxoSmithKline, SBO Bet, Microgaming, Microsoft, the BBC and Zurich Insurance. Steve currently works as an independent advisor with a focus on M&A and the strategic use of leading-edge technology at global scale.
