Tim Denison

Dr. Tim Denison is an advisor at Nia and has over 25 years of experience in the field of neural engineering. Tim has held various positions at different companies, including Brown University, Medtronic, and Nia.

Dr. Denison has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Tim did their post-doctoral work at Brown University in the area of computational neuroscience. Tim has been working in the field of neural engineering for over 20 years.

At Medtronic, they were responsible for leading the engineering technology team that developed core technology for Neuromodulation devices. This included integrated circuits, sensors, algorithms, MRI conditionally-safe systems, materials science, and research tools. Their team was specifically focused on the translation from functional prototypes to research tools for product discovery.

Tim then became the Vice President of Research and Core Technology with the Implantable Systems R&D team, Restorative Therapies Group. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of research and development for implantable medical devices.

Tim is currently an advisor at Nia, where they provide coaching in the development and translation of neural engineering systems.

Tim Denison has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Business Administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and an AB in Physics from the University of Chicago. Tim also completed a Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
