Unni Liahjell Ellingsen has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Unni began their career as a Revisor/Auditor at Deloitte, where they worked on external clients, with Hydro Aluminium being their main client. After Deloitte, they joined Toll- og Avgiftdirektoratet as a Rådgiver in the Regnskapsavdelingen, where they were involved in developing and implementing ERP systems for revenue management. Unni later became the Underdirektør in the Regnskapsavdelingen, responsible for the Central Accounting Organization, delivering taxes and VAT to the Norwegian Finance Department. Moving on, Unni joined PGS Geophysical AS and held various roles, including Director Shared Service Accounting, Vice President of Global Accounting Services, and Business Controller Europe/Middle East/CIS. Unni managed a global shared service accounting center, oversaw financial processes, and ensured compliance with IFRS standards. Currently, they are the Økonomidirektør, CFO at NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research.

Unni Liahjell Ellingsen's education history begins in 1984 when they attended Heriot-Watt University until 1988. However, the field of study and degree obtained during this time are not provided. In 2004, they pursued an Executive Master of Management degree with a focus on Change Management at BI Norwegian Business School, which they completed in 2005. From 2005 to 2006, they continued their education at the same institution, earning another Executive Master of Management degree in Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Governance. Unni Liahjell Ellingsen then attended Duke University in 2006, where they participated in a Management Training Program 3x3 within the top 30 management group. Lastly, in 2007, they attended BI Norwegian Business School once again, completing an Executive Master of Management degree with a concentration in Scenarios, Foresight, and Strategy in 2008.
