Jorge Páez Portuguez

In 1994 he was appointed Host Manager of the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) satellite, and Collaborator Investigator (COI) of the X-ray Polarimeter Experiment satellite project. Since 2007 he participates in the CALLISTO project for the global observation of solar activity in radio waves (41-870 Mhz).

He promoter and founder of the Planetarium of Costa Rica at the University of Costa Rica (UCR) for the strengthening of the teaching of Astronomy. Professor at the School of Physics, Professor and one of the creators of the Postgraduate studies in Astrophysics in this same university campus. He was also a Research Professor at the Autonomous University of Honduras at the Suyapa Observatory.

Doctor of Science from the University of Tübingen, Germany. He did his Postdoctoral studies at the Universities of Mexico, Tübingen, Bochum and the Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam.
