Richard Wankmuller is a highly experienced leader with a robust background in engineering and management. As Chairman of Niche Environment and Heritage since September 2021 and Mercy Ships Australia since September 2017, Wankmuller focuses on proactive governance and advancing healthcare initiatives globally. Previously, Wankmuller served as CEO of Inland Rail from April 2018 to August 2021, where responsibilities included overseeing the development of a new rail freight initiative in Australia. As CEO and Managing Director at Cardno, Wankmuller led significant operational transformations, and during tenure as Executive Director and President at GHD, Wankmuller facilitated substantial growth across the Americas. Earlier roles included Group President at Parsons, where Wankmuller improved profitability and market positioning, and President of MWH Global, where Wankmuller was instrumental in driving profit growth across multiple regions. Educationally, Wankmuller holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware, with additional studies at Oregon State University.
