Jean Powlesland

Secretary at NIDCAP

Jean Powlesland is a nurse with 35 years of experience, the last 30 of those working with newborns and families. She is the developmental specialist in the intensive care and intermediate care nurseries at UI Health in Chicago. Her professional duties include neurobehavioral assessments of at-risk infants and educating the professional staff who care for these infants and families, as well as tracking outcomes of hospitalized infants. She has mentored numerous graduate students of nursing and child development who are interested in neonatal care and support. As a NIDCAP Trainer, she has trained both in the U.S. and the Middle East and is passionate about transforming the culture of care to optimally support vulnerable infants and their families.
