Carlos A. Chacón-Martínez has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Carlos A. is currently the CEO & Co-Founder of niostem, a German startup focused on regenerative technologies for hair loss and regrowth. Prior to this, they were a BE3 Cohort Member at Entrepreneur First, where they received support in building technology companies. Carlos A. also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, where they conducted research on skin cancer and hair follicle stem cells. Earlier in their career, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at TU Dresden, investigating the molecular mechanisms of a cytoskeletal protein, and completed their Ph.D. studies on the same topic. Carlos A. began their career at Ghent University, where they contributed to the design and development of antibody fragments to target mammary tumors.
Carlos A. Chacón-Martínez earned their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Microbiology from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, which they attended from 1998 to 2003. Carlos A. then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Medical Molecular Biotechnology at Ghent University, where they studied from 2006 to 2007. Following their Master's degree, Carlos completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cell Biology and Biochemistry at Technische Universität Dresden between 2007 and 2012.
In addition to their formal education, Carlos also obtained two certifications. In June 2014, they completed BD FACS ARIA training from BD. In the same year, they earned a certification in Laboratory animals, specifically FELASA B, from the Federation for Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA).
