David Michael

Director at Niron Magnetics

David Michael is currently the Director at Niron Magnetics. Prior to this, they were a Senior Engineer at GE Global Research from July 2005 to March 2018. There, they specialized in magnetic materials for power generation, distribution, and conversion technologies. David has also served as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology from January 2004 to July 2005, where they researched the enhanced magnetocaloric effect in nanocrystalline, superparamagnetic metal alloys. In addition, they participated in the development of paramagnetic Standard Reference Materials. Prior to their work at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, David was a College Co-op at Ford Motor Company from May 1994 to August 1996.

David Michael has a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, an S.M. in Materials Science & Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. David also has a certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in Private Pilot certificate and is Instrument rated.
