Frank Johnson is the current Chief Technical Officer at Niron Magnetics. Prior to joining Niron, Frank worked as a Senior Engineer at GE Global Research from July 2005 to March 2018. At GE, they were a materials scientist specializing in magnetic materials for power generation, distribution, and conversion technologies. Frank also served as Principal Investigator in three federal R&D contracts and contributed to the company's critical material strategy in the area of rare earth supply risk mitigation.
From January 2004 to July 2005, Frank was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. There, they researched the enhanced magnetocaloric effect in nanocrystalline, superparamagnetic metal alloys and participated in the development of paramagnetic Standard Reference Materials.
Frank began their career as a College Co-op at Ford Motor Company from May 1994 to August 1996.
Frank Johnson earned their Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Frank also holds an S.M. in Materials Science & Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. In addition, Frank Johnson is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration in Private Pilot certificate and Instrument rated, and also has a SixSigma Green Belt certification.
