Co-founder and CEO at Nithio

Kate Steel has held several positions throughout their work experience. Kate co-founded Nithio in 2018 and served as the CEO. Prior to that, they worked at USAID as the Energy Director for Power Africa from 2014 to 2018. Before joining USAID, they were a part of Google's Energy Access and Investments Team from 2012 to 2014. Kate's career began at The World Bank, where they served as an Energy Specialist from 2010 to 2012 and as a Young Professional from 2008 to 2010.

Kate Steel has a PhD in Engineering Systems from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kate also holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and an MEng in Development Technologies from the University of Melbourne.
