Jay Schwalbe co-founded Nitricity in 2020, a start-up that utilizes electrochemical innovations to provide universal access to nitrogen fertilizer. Prior to this, they worked as a Graduate Student at Stanford University from 2014 to 2020, where they collaborated with researchers from Stanford and the Danish Technical University to develop new techniques for fertilizer production. Their work in electrochemical ammonia synthesis was featured in a Nature publication and they also published their own paper on the subject. In 2013, Jay worked as a Teaching Assistant at Cornell University for a thermodynamics course and also served as an NNIN REU intern at the University of Washington for two months in the same year.
Jay Schwalbe received their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in 2014. Jay then pursued further education at Stanford University, where they received their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering in 2020. At Cornell University, they also earned a second Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, specifically in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, during the same time period.
