Alvin Setiawan is an experienced Aquaculture Scientist at NIWA since January 2013, focusing research on the influence of 11-ketotestosterone on the behavior and physiology of shortfinned eels (Anguilla australis). Prior to this role, Alvin served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Otago from January 2008 to January 2012. Earlier experience includes working as a Claims Officer at the Accident Compensation Corporation in 2007, where responsibilities included managing payments to healthcare providers. Alvin holds a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary Education) from the University of Otago and a B.Sc (1st class Honours) - Ph.D. in Zoology from the same institution. Education was completed at Regina Pacis Jakarta, culminating in high school graduation in 1995.
