Brent Wood

Brent Wood has extensive experience as a GIS and database consultant at NIWA, providing support for research programs with a focus on fisheries research, climate, and oceanographic projects since January 1975. Brent leads the national data delivery program, enhancing strategies and systems for environmental data dissemination. As a Charter Member of OSGEO since 2016, Brent has been recognized for contributions to Open Source GIS tools and technologies, and previously served as a representative for NIWA at OGC from 2011 to 2015 and as a council member of the New Zealand Open Source Society from 2006 to 2015. Additionally, Brent was a founding member and director of the local chapter for OSGEO from 2008 to 2013. Educational achievements include a NZCS in Biology from the Central Institute of Technology, along with completing high school studies at Hutt Valley High School and primary education at Muritai Primary School.
