Guglielmo Stecca

River Modeller at NIWA

Guglielmo Stecca is a skilled River Modeller at NIWA, where responsibilities include managing and contributing to applied and research projects on the morphological evolution of New Zealand's braided rivers since April 2018. Key accomplishments include leading a project for Meridian Energy Ltd that examined hydrological influences on invasive vegetation and river morphology. Prior experience includes serving as a Research Fellow at both the University of Trento and NIWA, focusing on numerical modeling of braided river processes. A postdoctoral role at TU Delft allowed Guglielmo to enhance knowledge of sediment transport and river morphodynamics, contributing to navigational safety in the Dutch Rhine. Guglielmo holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering, as well as Master's and Bachelor's degrees in the same field, and has a background in violin performance.
