José Higino

José Higino is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in research computing and data platforms management. Currently serving as the Research Computing and Data Platforms Manager at NIWA since November 2014, José Higino oversees the operational management of the Platforms team and High-Performance Computing Facility (HPCF), contributing to the development and implementation of policies that support research and commercial services. Concurrently, José Higino holds the position of Platforms Manager at New Zealand eScience Infrastructure (NeSI), where responsibilities include enhancing HPC services for researchers in New Zealand. Previously, José Higino spent eight years as an IT Specialist at IBM, specializing in AIX and Linux support, high availability solutions, and cloud services, as well as authoring contributions to IBM Redbooks. José Higino completed a Master’s degree in Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
