Sharif Durhams

Sharif Durhams is currently the Director at NLGJA. Sharif has also previously worked as the Managing Editor at The News & Observer Publishing Company from December 2020 to January 2022. Prior to that, they worked as Senior Editor, Digital Global Programming at CNN from April 2017 to April 2020, where they won the Edward R. Murrow Award for best television network website in 2018 and Editor & Publisher EPPY Awards for best news website in 2018 and 2019. Sharif also worked as a Night homepage editor and Homepage editor at The Washington Post from April 2020 to December 2020 and March 2015 to April 2017 respectively.

Sharif Durhams has a degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in product management for journalists. Sharif has also completed the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas program at the University of Texas at Austin. Sharif is a member of the American Society of News Editors Minority Leadership Institute.
