Kelley Winship has a diverse work experience in the field of marine mammal research and education. Kelley is currently working as a Scientist at the National Marine Mammal Foundation since May 2022. Prior to this role, they served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the same organization from June 2019 to May 2022.
Before joining the National Marine Mammal Foundation, Kelley worked as a Part-Time Lecturer at the University of Miami from August 2017 onwards.
From May 2015 to June 2019, Kelley held the position of Senior Scientist and Senior Marine Mammal Specialist at Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder.
Kelley's earlier experiences include working as a Graduate Assistant at The University of Southern Mississippi from August 2012 to November 2014. During this time, they taught undergraduate courses on animal behavior and statistics.
Kelley also gained research experience as a Visiting Researcher at Dolphins Plus/Dolphin Cove from May 2013 to August 2013. Here, Kelley collected data for their Master's Thesis and assisted in various ongoing research projects.
Kelley started their career as an Animal Care and Training Intern at Mote Marine Laboratory in May 2010. Kelley assisted in facility maintenance, training sessions, and enrichment projects.
Before their internship at Mote Marine Laboratory, Kelley also had a short internship experience at Dolphins Plus in June and July 2009.
Kelley Winship began their education in 2008 at the University of Miami where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Marine Science and Biology. Kelley completed their undergraduate studies in 2012. In the same year, they enrolled at The University of Southern Mississippi to further their education in Experimental Psychology. From 2012 to 2015, they earned a Master's Degree in Experimental Psychology. Subsequently, they continued their academic journey at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Experimental Psychology in 2016.
