Madilyn Pardini

Madilyn Pardini has a diverse work experience in the field of marine mammal research. In 2016, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at SeaWorld San Diego. Madilyn then went on to work as a Research Volunteer at U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Dolphins Plus in 2018.

In the same year, Madilyn took on multiple roles at the Pinniped Cognition and Sensory Systems Lab, including an Internship, Research Assistant position, and eventually a Research and Animal Technician role. Their responsibilities included data collection for the Physiology and Health of Cooperating Arctic Seals (PHOCAS) project, as well as supporting the care and training of marine mammals.

Madilyn also interned at the Navy Marine Mammal Program in 2019.

Madilyn joined the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance in 2022 as a Research Assistant, where they focused on field research for the Terns and Plovers program on the Coronado naval base. Their duties included bird and nest counts, as well as chick banding.

Currently, Madilyn holds the position of Research Associate at the National Marine Mammal Foundation, beginning in 2022.

Madilyn Pardini attended the University of San Diego from 2013 to 2017, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Marine Sciences. Madilyn then pursued further education at the University of Miami, completing a Master's of Professional Science in Marine Mammal Science from 2017 to 2018. In addition to their degrees, they have obtained certifications such as the Motorboat Operators Certification Course from the U.S. Department of the Interior in May 2018 and the Open Water Diver certification from PADI in July 2013. Madilyn also completed the Core Training Program - Laboratory Technician from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and holds certifications in Marine Mammal Rescue Response from the Marine Animal Rescue Society and DOLPHINS PLUS OCEANSIDE MARINE MAMMAL RESPONDER INC. Madilyn has also received training as a Marine Mammal Technician, and in Non-Biomedical Research and Wildlife Research from the CITI Program, A Division of BRANY.
