Julia Johannesen is an experienced educator and expedition leader with a focus on outdoor education and environmental stewardship. As an Adjunct Faculty member at High Mountain Institute since September 2016, Julia teaches technical rock climbing and backpacking alongside environmental field studies. Julia has led transformative trips for middle and high school students with No Barriers USA since May 2014, fostering responsible global citizenship in diverse locations, including the Peruvian Amazon and Costa Rica. Previous roles include Assistant Garden Manager at Colorado Rocky Mountain School, Naturalist at Aspen Center For Environmental Studies, and various guiding positions, showcasing a strong background in ecology, natural history, and community engagement. Julia holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and a Master of Arts in Sustainable Communities from Northern Arizona University.
