Niels Avonds

Niels Avonds has extensive work experience in the software industry. Niels currently holds the position of Head of Software at Nobi BV, a role they have held since January 2019. In addition, they are the Founder of Codebits, a company they started in March 2021.

Prior to these roles, Niels worked at ONE Smart Control as the Lead Software Architect from March 2017 to January 2021. Niels also served as an Embedded Software Engineer at the same company from September 2015 to February 2017.

Before joining ONE Smart Control, Niels worked as an Embedded Software Engineer at Essensium from June 2015 to February 2017.

In addition to their software development roles, Niels has experience as a Medior Software Engineer at MediaGeniX NG from September 2013 to May 2015. At MediaGeniX, they were involved in large-scale projects and module rewrites to adapt to the evolving media landscape.

Niels began their career as a Summer Student at CERN in July 2012, and later worked as a member of the IT team at VTK, a student organization representing engineering students, from July 2012 to September 2013. In this role, they primarily focused on the development of administrative software.

Niels Avonds attended Kardinaal van Roey Instituut Vorselaar from 2002 to 2008, completing their Middelbaar Onderwijs in the field of Latijn - Wiskunde. Niels then went on to study at KU Leuven from 2008 to 2011, where they obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Ingenieurswetenschappen: Computerwetenschappen - Elektrotechniek. Niels Avonds continued their education at KU Leuven from 2011 to 2013, earning their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Ingenieurswetenschappen: Computerwetenschappen.
