Alaa Khalaf

Firmware Engineer at Nofence

Alaa Khalaf has worked in the engineering field for the past 10 years. In 2021, they began working as a Firmware Engineer at Nofence. Prior to this, they worked at Starkbits from 2020-2021 as a Software Developer and Scrum Master, where they developed firmware for a proprietary device that connected to after market IP cameras. From 2011-2020, they worked at Optumatics as a CFD Engineer, where they applied an in-house CFD code to analyze complex geometries involving deforming meshes, and developed and calibrated numerical models to be incorporated into CFD analysis. During their time at Optumatics, they optimized air flow components of a 2-stroke 2.5l OPOC diesel engine to maximize scavenging efficiency, enhance fuel mixing, and maximize air flow for higher power densities. Alaa also optimized piston bowl and fuel targeting in a 2-stroke 2.5l OPOC diesel engine.

Alaa Khalaf has a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Cairo University, which they completed in 2009. Alaa then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Embedded Computing Systems from RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau which they completed in 2019. Alaa then pursued a Master's Degree in Embedded Systems from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), which they completed in 2020.
