James Thorne has a wide range of work experience in the machining industry. James began their career at BCI Manufacturing as a Machinist, where they operated various machining centers and performed manual lathe work. James also managed their time effectively to ensure productivity. After their time at BCI Manufacturing, James joined Blount International, Inc. as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker. Here, they analyzed print packages, operated machine tools, and machined components with high precision. James also served as a Tool and Die Maker's Apprentice, acquiring skills in mills, lathes, grinders, and more. Prior to joining Blount International, Inc., James was a Tool Room Machinist and Punch Press Operator at the same company. After their tenure at Blount International, Inc., they joined JAE Electronics as a Toolmaker. Finally, they worked at Converting Equipment International as a Machine Shop Supervisor before joining Nomad Global Communication Solutions as a CNC Machinist/Programmer.

James Thorne completed their State Certified Tool & Die Maker's Apprenticeship from 1998 to 2004, earning a Journeyman Card in Tool & Die Making. Prior to that, they attended Clackamas Community College from 1994 to 2000, where they took various classes related to their work. James also attended Portland Community College from 1995 to 1998, focusing on General Studies and Machine Manufacturing Technology. Additionally, they obtained certifications as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker from the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries in March 2004 and March 2003.
