Maria Ekqvist

Maria Ekqvist has extensive work experience in the finance industry, primarily in legal and governance roles. Maria currently holds the position of Head of Legal and Governance Operations at Nordea Asset Management since April 2023. Prior to this, they were the Head of Regulatory Governance and Oversight at the same company from January 2022 to March 2023.

Before joining Nordea Asset Management, Maria worked at Nordea Funds Ltd, where they held various positions, including Deputy CEO, Head of Governance and Finance from January 2020 to January 2022, and Head of Governance and Finance from January 2018 to January 2020. Maria also served as an Executive Adviser from February 2017 to December 2017, and as the Head of Fund Compliance from May 2015 to January 2017.

Maria also has experience working at Danske Bank, where they were on maternity leave from July 2014 to April 2015. Maria was previously a Conducting Officer at Danske Invest Management Company from February 2013 to June 2014. Maria also held the position of Chief Fund Administration Officer at Danske Bank International S.A. from August 2011 to June 2014.

Prior to joining Danske Bank, Maria worked as Senior Legal Counsel at Danske Bank A/S, Helsinki Branch from November 2009 to August 2011. Maria also gained experience as a Legal Counsel at Sampo Bank Plc, Wealth Management from March 2008 to October 2009, and from September 2005 to March 2008.

Maria began their career as a Legal Counsel at the Financial Supervision Authority in Finland in November 2004. Maria previously served as a Substitute at the same authority from May 2003 to September 2004.

Maria Ekqvist attended the University of Helsinki from 1999 to 2004, however, no degree or specific field of study was mentioned.
