Michael Sterner

Michael Sterner currently serves as a Senior Adviser for The Nordic Council of Ministers and The Nordic Council since April 2023. Prior to this role, Michael was the Chief Advisor at the Danish Ministry for Economic Affairs from January 2023 to April 2023, and served as a Special Advisor at Finansministeriet - Danish Ministry of Finance from August 2021 to January 2023. Michael held the position of Counselor (finance) at the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington, DC, from August 2019 to August 2021. Additionally, Michael has extensive experience as a Special Advisor at the Ministry of Finance of Denmark between July 2015 and August 2019, and at The Danish Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Interior from October 2011 to July 2015. Earlier roles include serving in various capacities at the Ministry of Finance of Denmark from April 2005 to October 2011, and as a Student Assistant at Nykredit between December 2002 and August 2004. Michael holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Economics from the University of Copenhagen, completed between 2000 and 2006.
