Dr. Lars Gruenitz has extensive work experience in the maritime industry. Dr. Lars is currently serving as the Managing Director at Norstar Ship Management. Previously, they held the position of Head of Vessel Management and Process Improvement at Berge Bulk, where they were responsible for fleet performance and implementing digitization initiatives. Prior to that, Dr. Gruenitz served as the Managing Director at Thome Shipmanagement, overseeing various types of vessels. Dr. Lars also worked as the COO/Director of Operation at Arpeni Pratama Ocean Line, where they significantly reduced bunker costs and managed daily operations. Dr. Gruenitz has a background in business development and sales, having worked as a Business Development Manager at Germanischer Lloyd Singapore. Additionally, they have experience in market development and project engineering, having held positions at Germanischer Lloyd AG and HDW GmbH.
Dr. Lars Gruenitz received their Dr. degree in Engineering from Hamburg University of Technology, where they studied from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, they earned their M.Sc. (Eng) degree in civil engineering from the University of Cape Town, where they completed their studies in 2001.
