Don Prince has a strong background in information security, with experience in various roles and companies. Don began their career at Carolinas Healthcare System as a Senior Information Security Systems Engineer from March 2004 to August 2009. Don then worked at Southern Company as a Senior Information Security Architect and Engineer from August 2009 to January 2014. Following this, they joined Cisco as a Consulting Security Engineer from January 2014 to November 2014. Currently, they are serving as the Chief Information Security Director at North American Electric Reliability Corporation, which they joined in November 2014.
Don Prince began their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Mississippi, which they earned from 1999 to 2003. The degree had a focus on Engineering with an Emphasis on Electrical Engineering & Business. In 2010, they obtained a Certificate in Information Technology Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Later, in 2013, Don Prince pursued another certificate, this time in Power Systems Engineering, also from Georgia Institute of Technology. Most recently, from 2019 to 2021, they completed their Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)
The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is a not-for-profit international regulatory authority whose mission is to assure the reliability and security of the bulk power system in North America. NERC develops and enforces Reliability Standards; annually assesses seasonal and long‐term reliability; monitors the bulk power system through system awareness; and educates, trains, and certifies industry personnel. NERC’s area of responsibility spans the continental United States, Canada, and the northern portion of Baja California, Mexico. NERC is the electric reliability organization for North America, subject to oversight by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and governmental authorities in Canada. NERC’s jurisdiction includes users, owners, and operators of the bulk power system, which serves more than 334 million people.
