Hasala Dharmawardena

Hasala Dharmawardena, PhD, PE, is a Senior Engineer for Power System Modeling Studies at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) since June 2024, focusing on reliability challenges within the North American Bulk Power System. Previously, Hasala held various leadership roles within IEEE, including Chair of IEEE Young Professionals, member of the IEEE-USA Board of Directors, and Chair of multiple committees related to power and energy societies. Hasala has provided consultancy services at Siemens and carried out distribution planning and analysis at Leidos. With a rich educational background including a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Clemson University, Hasala has made significant contributions through volunteer activities in IEEE since 2008, aiming to advance technology and support young professionals in the field.
