Martha Flanagan is an experienced research specialist currently working at the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services since July 2022. Previously, Martha held the position of Head of the Living Conservatory and Arthropod Zoo at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences from December 2008 to July 2022, where Martha oversaw a tropical dry forest exhibit featuring a diverse array of species and plants. Additional experience includes serving as the South District Interpretation and Education Specialist for the NC Division of Parks and Recreation and as the City Naturalist for the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation. Martha began a career in education and animal collection as an Educator and Curator at Imagination Station Science Museum. Martha holds a Master’s degree in Zoology from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
