Peter Thornton has extensive experience in the field of agriculture and marketing. Peter started their career in 1995 as the Asia Marketing Manager at the American Soybean Association. Peter then joined the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in 2006, where they held various roles including Assistant Director, International Marketing and currently serves as the Marketing Director. Peter'sfocus has been on expanding international markets for agricultural operations in North Carolina and building customer confidence in North Carolina agriculture.

Peter Thornton completed their high school education and obtained a High School Degree from The Heights School from 1978 to 1984.

Peter pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics at American University from 1984 to 1988.

Later, Peter obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) between 1991 and 1992.
