North Carolina Education Corps

A drop in K-5 literacy scores is having a drastic impact across our state. In recent years, some students have lost learning time and are falling behind. Families are juggling work, school, and child care. Teachers are struggling to keep students engaged. All of this makes it harder for students to learn and thrive. North Carolina Education Corps was a response to the impact COVID-19 had on schools, and its work continues to help students make up ground and get back on track. We bring together community members to support students and accelerate learning. You can help. We recruit, train, and support “corps members” who serve as high-impact tutors. Corps members extend the reach of teachers and accelerate student learning in response to the impact of lower literacy scores in schools. As tutors, corps members assist K-5 students with building foundational skills with profound, long-term implications. Our call to action is simple: step up to work as a high-impact tutor. Join a community effort to support students and accelerate learning.
